Compare Vornado VH10 and Velocity 4 whole room heaters for large rooms. See which model fits your space, heating needs, and budget.
Quick Answer
For large rooms, the VH10 is the stronger choice because its modern design and enhanced airflow are built to maintain balanced temperatures across bigger spaces. The Velocity 4 is a budget-friendly introduction to Vornado's whole room heating, but it may struggle to heat the farthest corners of a very large room.
Heat Output and Airflow: Why the VH10 Leads
The VH10 is part of Vornado's next generation of whole room heaters, with modern styling that hints at an enhanced internal design. Its 'Vortex Action' creates a twisting current of air that flows fast and warm, which is exactly what you need to push heat across a large room. The Velocity 4 is the entry point to the Velocity Tuned Heat® Series, designed to move hotter air faster and farther than before, but it uses a simpler dial control with three heat settings. That simplicity is great for ease of use, but in a large room you may need more precise control to keep the temperature even from wall to wall.
Controls and Convenience: Trade-Offs to Consider
The Velocity 4's simple 3-heat-setting dial is straightforward and reliable, but it offers less flexibility than the VH10's enhanced design. If you often adjust heat throughout the day, the VH10's more modern approach may give you better temperature management. On the other hand, if you prefer a no-fuss heater that you set and forget, the Velocity 4's dial is perfectly adequate. Also, both models stay cool to the touch and include tip-over protection, so safety is not a differentiator.
Trade-Offs at a Glance
- Room Size: If your room is large (e.g., an open living area or big bedroom), choose the VH10 for its enhanced airflow that better maintains balanced temperatures. For medium-sized rooms, the Velocity 4's faster, farther-traveling heat is sufficient. Measure your room's square footage and compare it to the heater's coverage; if in doubt, go with the VH10.
- Control Preference: The Velocity 4's simple 3-heat-setting dial is easy to use, but the VH10's modern design offers more refined temperature management. If you like to fine-tune heat, pick the VH10; if you prefer simplicity, the Velocity 4 works.
- Budget: The Velocity 4 is priced at $46.89 (compare at $69.99), making it the more affordable option. The VH10 costs $52.79 (compare at $79.99). If budget is a primary concern and your room is not huge, the Velocity 4 saves you money. Consider the long-term comfort: spending a bit more on the VH10 could be worth it for better heating in large rooms.

VH10 Whole Room Heater - Velocity 4 Whole Room Heater: The Velocity 4 is the perfect introduction to the Velocity Tuned Heat® Series, creating hotter heat that moves faster and travels farther into a room. It's a solid entry-level whole room heater, but its simpler design may not cover the full square footage of a very large room as effectively as the VH10.
