Compare the Vornado 683 Pedestal Air Circulator and the 633 Medium Air Circulator to see which moves more air and suits your room best.
Quick answer
Both the 683 Pedestal and 633 Medium move air up to 75 feet, but the 683 adds adjustable height and a pedestal base for better room coverage, making it the better choice for larger spaces or if you need directional control.
Why both models move air the same distance
Both the 683 Pedestal Air Circulator and the 633 Medium Air Circulator use Vornado's signature Vortex Technology, which aerodynamically circulates all the air in a room rather than just blowing a narrow stream. This is why both are rated to move air up to 75 feet — the same maximum distance.
The real difference comes down to how you want that airflow delivered. The 683 is a pedestal fan that can be adjusted from floor level to about head height, while the 633 sits on a tabletop or floor and stays fixed. If you need to aim air higher or cover a larger vertical area, the 683 gives you that flexibility.
Price and value trade-off
The 633 Medium Air Circulator is priced at $48.79, while the 683 Pedestal costs $55.24. For about $6.50 more, the 683 adds a telescoping pole and a wider base, which can be worth it if you plan to use the fan in a living room or open-plan area where you want to direct air upward or across furniture.
However, if you're placing the circulator in a small bedroom, office, or kitchen where it will sit on a desk or counter, the 633's compact tabletop design saves space and still delivers the same 75-foot air movement.
Which one should you choose?
- Room size and placement: If your room is medium to large (like a living room or open-plan area) and you want to direct air higher, the 683 Pedestal's adjustable height gives you that control. For small to mid-size rooms where the fan will sit on a table or counter, the 633's compact design saves space.
- Noise vs. power: Both move air 75 feet, but the 633 is described as whisper-quiet, making it better for bedrooms or quiet offices. The 683 is slightly louder due to the pedestal design and larger motor housing, but still operates at a reasonable level for most living areas. If low noise is your top priority, the 633 is the quieter choice.
- Budget and value: The 633 costs $48.79 and the 683 costs $55.24. For $6.46 more, the 683 adds height adjustability. If you don't need that feature, save the money and get the 633.
